What is Making?

So, I am feeling a little contemplative today. Thinking about a conversation I had with a friend earlier about the meaning of a "makerspace" or what makes a "maker." As most of you know, I mean, I say it all the time, that I have always considered myself a "maker by marriage." Maker Depot Academy is the brain child of my husband and his friend, Frank. I knew nothing of making or STEM/STEAM.
Fast forward to present day, and I could not be more of a fan/advocate/whatever you want to call it of makerspaces and all things making.
There are those who think that crafters aren't makers, or that no one will understand what a makerspace is.
My opinion, all of it is making. Whatever it is that you create with your hands is making. Crafting is making. What is a makerspace? It is where you go to make stuff. Period. Should schools have makerspaces? Ummm, yeah!!!
Should communities have makerspaces? Umm,, yeah!! We all need to work with our hands. Over the past few months, I have started making stuff. I have been working with my Cricut, and having a ball. So good for my mental health!! It helps me clear my mind. The pride I feel (and I'm 52) when one of my projects comes out well, is overwhelming. Imagine how a student would feel doing the same thing?
